Enamel Pin Special Options

Standard enamel pins are beautiful physical manifestations of your art and are complete pieces, making a statement and allowing for tremendous variety. But for the times you need that extra bold statement or unique spin, special options are the essential finishing touch.

Special Options

Recessed metal on an enamel pin

Recessed Metal

When a pin is formed, it will contain both raised and recessed areas. Typically, the recessed areas are filled with enamel color. In some cases when a part of the design juts out or has a sharp incut, we may add a small area of recessed metal.

Cutouts on enamel pins

Cutouts

If your pin has an area punched out inside the design, there is a $10 cutting fee. You can avoid this fee by filling the area with enamel or recessed metal, however most people consider the small fee worth it, as in most cases it makes a significant difference in the overall look of the pin.

Backstamp and laser engraving on enamel pin

Back Stamp vs Laser

A back stamp is the most common form of pin branding. A mold is created and then stamped onto the back of your pin. A lesser known option, laser engraving, is best if your back design has intricate detail. No mold needs to be created, making for a flat, smooth surface.

Enamel pin colors

Enamel Colors

In addition to the metal plating color, you can have 6 enamel colors for free on your pin for a total of 7 colors. Additional colors can be added on for 15¢ per color.

Enamel pins with same design but different color scheme

Color Versions

You can vary the enamel colors of your pin within the same order as long as the pin size and all other design elements are exactly the same.

Enamel pin with rainbow plating

Rainbow Plating

Rainbow plated pins come in a spectrum of colors that radiate outward. Some people opt to add areas of enamel, while others let the rainbow stand alone.

Enamel pin with spot color printing

Spot Color Printing

If your design has extremely small details or areas you don't want outlined with metal, we can print certain details on top of the enamel. (hard enamel only)

Enamel pin with painted metal

Painted Metal

All enamel pins have metal plating showing through on the areas of raised metal. This plating only comes in gold, nickel, and other similar metal colors. This may not always be desirable. Painting the metal allows for virtually unlimited color options.

Enamel pins with connecting chains

Connecting Chains

Two seperate pins, typically with a common theme, can be connected by a small chain. You will need to place two separate pin orders and choose the chain attachment on one of them.

Enamel pin on backer card

Backer Cards

Save yourself the trouble of ordering seperately and attaching your pins yourself. Our full color, double sided backer cards with your custom design will be shipped to you with your pins already attached.

Glow-in-the-Dakr Enamel Pin

Glow-in-the-Dark

Enamel colors of your choice can glow in the dark. The default choice is white, however, we can match a PMS color to glow. Colored glow enamel will have a slight texture and will not be as smooth as white glow or regular enamel.

Enamel pin with rhinestones

Rhinestones

Multiple rhinestones of different sizes and colors can be affixed to your pins. You will be able to specify this information at the time of ordering.

Enamel pin with glitter

Glitter

Enamel can be mixed with glitter for an eye-catching, shimmering effect. This can be done on the entire pin or just on certain sections.

3D Enamel Pin

3D Mold

A 3D mold gives extra depth, dimension, and curve. 3D Pins are rare. If you are unsure whether or not a 3D pin is needed for your design, likely it isn't. A measure of depth can be achieved in standard pins simply using raised and recessed metal.

enamel pin with epoxy

Epoxy

A layer of clear epoxy can be placed over your pin. This is typically used on printed pins to help maintain longevity, however it can be added to enamel pins as well for added shine.

Pin with translucent enamel

Translucent Enamel

Translucent enamel is semi-opaque and can be used to create cool effects and depth in your pin. You will be able to slightly see through the enamel to the metal frame of your pin.

Pin with stained glass enamel

Stained Glass

Achieved by cutting out an area of metal on the mold and filling the space with translucent enamel, allowing light to pass through, similar to a stained glass window. These areas need to be large enough to cut out of the metal.

Pin with transparent enamel

Transparent Enamel

Achieved by cutting out an area of metal on the mold and filling the space with a completely clear enamel. These areas need to be large enough to cut out of the metal.
